Activating DND (now NCPR) on Tata DoCoMo mobile
DND can be activated by either SMS or Calling 1909 from your mobile number. 1909 is a toll-free number and Tata DoCoMo will not charge you for sending SMS or making call to 1909. It takes 7 days for any request to get processed.

NCPR options and preferences
To block unwanted commercial communication, you have two options to choose:

  • Fully blocked
    If you don’t want any commercial communications at all on your mobile, neither as a SMS or voice call, subscribe to fully blocked option.
    Airtel-DND START 0 to 1909
    Airtel-DND1909
  • Partial blocked
    If you wish you get commercial communications by SMS of your preference and block rest of all, subscribe to partial block option.
    Airtel-DND START X to 1909
    Airtel-DND1909
    Replace the X with the choice of your below preferences:
    1. Banking – Insurance – Financial Products – Credit Cards
    2. Real Estate
    3. Education
    4. Health
    5. Consumer Goods & Automobiles
    6. Communication – Broadcasting – Entertainment – IT
    7. Tourism

    If you like to subscribe for multiple categories, separate the numbers with a comma. i.e., START 2,4,7.

Change your current preferences
It is possible to change your preference. Type STOP X and send SMS to 1909 or call 1909 to stop any current preference, you can remove single preference out of your current multiple preferences.
You can add new preference as well to your current preferences, type
START X
and SMS to 1909 or call 1909.
Replace the X with the preference number.

De-Registration of DND (now NCPR)
De-registration or de-activation of DND will remove all blocks on your mobile number and you will start receiving unsolicited calls / SMS again.

Complaint registration process for receiving commercial unwanted calls / messages, after NCPR (old DND) subscription.

Key points

  1. DND (now NCPR), will never block any of your solicited communication like Bank alerts SMS, Bank communications, Ticket / online booking confirmations, etc.
  2. Each DND (now NCPR) request takes 7 days for the process and a confirmation SMS will be sent to you in 24 hours.
  3. There should be minimum 7 days gap between previous DND request or registration for a new request.
  4. 1909 is a Toll-free number, no charges applicable.

      The real headache is the TATA Docomo. Now a days every telemarketers are aware that not to call if registered with DND. Even if they call probably twice in a week time, but this docomo bastards are calling and text-ing even after registering with DND.

      Frankly speaking, the we hate the promotional messages and calls from docomo, not from other other telemarketers. what is the way to stop receiving msg and calls fro m Docomo? Please dont ask me stupid questions like, have you registered with DND? and blocked the broadcast message at my mobile?

      I did all the stuff, BUT STILL I AM GETTING AT LEAST 5 SMS AND 2 CALLS FROM DOCOMO. I HATE YOUR OFFERS, YOU SHOULD NEVER IMPOSE WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION, EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO ASK WHEN SOMETHING REQUIRED.

      STOP GETTING CALLS/SMS FROM DOCOMO… I AM USING AIRCELLL AND DOCOMO . AIRCELL, THEY NEVER SEND ME ANY PROMOTION MSGS OR CALL TO MY NUMBER, BUT THIS DOCOMO STUPIDS DISTRIBUTING ME LOT EVEN AFTER I CALLED AND COMPLAINED.

      My mob is: 8015713019

      Most importantly, they send a service message, which has only two options, which has only two options either OK to activate cancel to exit. If accidentally ok pressed 15 rs or 30 rs gone. If we ask they give stupid answers, go to settings and deactivate service message.

      How will a layman knows all this stuff. most importantly, it’s hard to reach your unqualified customer care representative?

        hey if you you are getting still calls or msgs….even your number in DND. just put your application to consumer court…..they have to pay per sms 1000 rs. and everyone hate this thing.actully companies usally comlete their fake targets…..

        This is true. I have the same issue. I ported my number to docomo a month ago, and have been flooded with phone calls and smses from the docomo guys themselves. This is the first time im seeing a tata service put in so much effort into creating a nuisance for customers. Someone high up who thought this would be a good marketing technique should reconsider the decision. Especially when they dont give the customer a chance to opt out from their own telemarketing services. The operator told me they didnt know who was calling, or how to stop their calls. I get missed call alerts from 52255. Im not interested. The message tells you to send an sms to start the service. I get this message a couple of times a day. The message however, conveniently doesnt mention how to stop the irritating alerts. The docomo guys dont tell you either. The website is a poor effort. There is no real information for help. All you get are contact phone numbers which are perpetually busy. Also, the website promises that users are not charged for services they arent subscribed to. This is false. I was charged for ‘internet’ usage when i accidentally clicked on the browser. The customer rep told me that all services are activated by default. The customer is not aware of it. If you want to deactivate the services, you need to make anothere set of calls and wait for the operator for a lo ger time.

      If you want to cancel and don’t want subscriptions to unwanted / telephone marketing phone call and SMS, please subscribe to DND by sending START DND to 1909.
      This services will be activated within 45 days.
      If you want all those telephone marketing phone call and SMS, please de-subscribe to DND by sending STOP DND to 1909.

    I have registered for DND on TataDocomo after registration i go a message from TATA DOCOMO (no number) that reply with Yes or No within 24 hours with request ID DND XXXXXX. I don’t know how to reply to a name ‘TATA DOCOMO’ (as there is no number corresponding to it.

    TATADocomo is making fool by asking a reply on a number less contact.

      We are not aware of this.
      However we recommend to check the following :-

      To subscribe to DND you have 3 possibilities, 1) Send SMS START DND to 1909 , 2) Call 1909 from your mobile follow instructions and choose your choice. and
      3) Call their customer care if you are unsuccessful at both above options, sure they will help you.

      Please be particular, if you receive messages from outside telemarketr’s, it’s so simple to stop. just register with DND. If you receive from Docomo. no other go, you have to bare since you have subscribed stupid service.

      my suggestion is go out of docomo. if your number is important to you, do polymerization (change the same number to another service provider)

    I have sent a message to activate DND service as START 0 to 1909 and in reply I got an DND id.The message says that \Please reply with YES or NO within 24 hrs.with request id DNDXXXXXXXXXXX\. I send the message as YES DND XXXXX and in reply I got the message that your request can not be processed as we did not get the confirmation within 24 hrs but I send the reply within 10 minutes of receiving the DND id.

      I am sure you must have sent the message in below format :-
      YES DNDXXXXXX
      that is without space between DND and Id, if not try again with above format.

      Alternatively, dial 1909 from your Tata DoCoMo mobile number, where you get to hear what are you doing through IVR.

    they askd for confirmation
    i replied YES

    after 5 seconds they say ” we are sorry , as we did nt get confirmation with in 24 hrs”

    is this Japanese time ,, that 5 sec means more than 24 hrs…
    i ll throw my card if it doesnt happen soon……

    they bloddy send 10 msgs a day and cl 2 times a day, in afternoon………….

    • Hello Vipul,

      When you send SMS for DND activation, normally they send you a code or ref number as SMS.
      You have to reply back with the code or that ref number and your request for DND will be registered. Hope you followed the same. Still they sorry, even after this procedure, try other two alternatives for DND (now NCPR) activation.

      Call 1909 from your DoCoMo mobile and follow instructions to activate DND.
      Or, call your customer care and they will activate DND on your DoCoMo mobile number behalf of you.

    sir my problem is also same as vipul & karan.
    i also want to know that if the above sms system is not working then why the hell are you giving or keeping this option. just tell to dial and register that would save a lot of time for us.
    And one more thing is you people just activate the unwanted caller tune etc,etc. and cut the amount from our sim account, when asked your people say that we have activated the service.do you think that we here are fools here or uneducated to just activate the service without necessary you just do not refund the amount also .your are robbing us openely.

    I want to know that if i do STOP DND then will i receive BANK’s sms of withdrawls & PIN number for transaction via online banking & PIN number for some other online registration like Gmail account or other b2b site?

    Please guide me in descriptive way.

    • Hello Jaymin,

      DND (now NCPR) will help you in blocking / filtering unsolicited calls and SMS only.
      You can subscribe to NCPR (old DND) by sending START 0 to 1909 from your DoCoMo mobile number and still receive SMS from your bank sites because they are solicited messages (communication you are expecting and in wanted)

    I had applied for complete de-registration of DND service for my mobile number +91 92319 23274 on 16/10/2011 at 11:40 PM. I had sent message, “STOP DND” to 1909. I had received the following message from 1909 “Hi! Do allow us 7 days to process your request for removal from Customer Preference. Your request ID is DND11137014912”.

    However, still now the DND service is active against my mobile number (+91 92319 23274) in the NDNC database.

    Requesting you to kindly de-activate / remove the DND service fully from my above mentioned cell phone number so that I could be able to receive promotional calls & SMSs from TATA DOCOMO and also from other services / service providers.

    I’m a tatadocomo prepaid customer with mobile number 8983587843..I have not activated any pack to my prepaid number,but an amount of 10.00 INR has been deducted from my account .And I got a message from docomo saying that you have subscribed to weekly persnalized horoscope pack for Rs.10 for & day.This all has done without my knowledge and concern.I have not let any one to activate this pack and I have not activated it myself.I request you to resolve this issue and please refund my money back as early as possible.

      Have you registered the complaint with Tata Docomo.
      If you do so,normally they will deactivate those services and may refund your charges also, try talking to customer care or register complaint online at http://www.tatadocomo.com/register-your-complaint.aspx.

        for Sashi it was rs.10/- but for me there was a charge of rs.45 deducted and a complaint was raised and they had de-activated immediately but no refund.
        Surprise i receive a message afte a month that my subscription for horoscope is renewed ??? repeated with complaint de-activation message follows and no refund of amount…
        now i keep receiving a call daily from number +91-40-1409190452 between 4 and 6 Pm…
        Surprise answer from the DOCOMO executives that DND had to be registered or re-activated every 3 months …. Is there any such rule…

      You cannot stop balance alerts as they are not any commercial communications.
      Still, try calling your Tata DoCoMo customer care and check whether they can stop sending you balance alerts.

    Hello Sir, I registered my mobile for DND service, and after that am unable to receive many sms. Is there an option now, where in i can get only sms and not unwanted calls.
    I spoke with Tata Docomo executives and they told me you will not be able to get that option seperate for calls and sms. Once subscribed to DND, the calls and sms will get blocked at a time. Finally I thought let me stop this service, for that as well they was a problem, where in the executive told, I need to wait for 90 days from the day of activation.

    Please advise on both scenarios, it will be really appreciated from your end.

      1) Subscribing to NCPR (old DND) will block both calls & messages, you can not choose between them.
      2) To unsubscribe from NCPR, send SMS STOP to 1909 from your mobile number at any time.

    The biggest problem with Docomo is that Rs.30/- is getting deducted from my balance for “THOUGHT OF THE DAY” which I have not activated. I tried calling and deactivating it, but it says “you do not have any active services”. But this is such a sick thing. I guess these people are minting money unethically. Please let me know if there is any other way to stop this thought of the day…:-(

    Hello, I had activated DND on 28th november 2012… and now i want to deactivate it… very urgently. Because i need to get job alerts.. so can you please help me to deactivate it.

    I sent the sms “START 6″ to 1909 and the reply came as YES or No. When I replied YES it said sorry we coouldn/t process your request as we did not receive your request within 24 hours. But I replied well within 24 hours…..

    TATA DOCOMO….This is not fair at all.
    To Activate DND I called 1909 on 31/03/2013 at 11:37 AM.It is mentioned in this site, we will get message regarding this within 24 hrs. But I didn’t get any message regarding DND except useless marketing SMS after 24 hrs from that. I thought it was not processed properly.So, I called again 1909,now it is saying “On 31/03/2013 you activated DND and now you again requested for Marketing services,if you want to activate DND again you have to wait till 90 days”.

    What is the Logic behind it….can any Brainy guy please explain to me?
    1)To activate DND it will take 7 days.
    2)To deactivate DND, it will finish with in no time.
    and again to activate DND it’ll take 90 days.

    Hello everyone irritated by DND not working for them. Please try to change your operator by number portability option.This way the so called idiot operators will immediately call u and persuade u not to change the operator. So then u can keep your terms in front of them, that if now u recieve any unwanted calls even aftr registering in DND, u will change all ur current operators to some other operator.
